True Repentance

Ezekiel 18:29-32, 31; Isa. 1:15-19
The true road to freedom from your sins, faults & failures begins with a change. The following is a step-by-step scriptural path, to true repentance, and salvation as laid down in God's Word. There are four keys one must explore to reach true repentance, let’s look at each and follow them.

KEY 1. CHANGE OF MIND
First, we must have a change of mind on our part about our sins, faults and failures. We have become a nation of narcissistic selfish people, both in the world and in the church. (II Corinthians 10:5,6; Romans 8:5-8; Ephesians 2:3; 4:17;). This transformation comes by seeking changes in our way of living, a study of God’s Word and a willingness to walk in God’s ways, (James 1:8; 4:7,8; I Corinthians 3:19,20). We are unbalanced, especially in the areas we have rebelled against God and his Word. (Romans 12:2)

KEY 2. A GODLY SORROW
Our change of mind about our sins, faults & failures, brings us to regret them, and a godly sorrow for our sins comes by the conviction of the Holy Spirit (John 16:8-11) “For Godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation” (II Corinthians 7:1,10, 11; PS.139: 23)

KEY 3. CONFESS OUR SINS
Gods Word discloses the way we really are, we see ourselves for the first time the way God sees us.
Conviction from the Holy Spirit begins to open our spiritual eyes and understanding about our true sinful state. The deception over our mind is stripped away, which leads us to admit that we have been deceived by our sins and have sinned against God and man.
The next move must come from us. Now we must make a choice, continue in our sins until we die and go to hell, or confess our sins to God and receive forgiveness and be accepted into the Kingdom of God as his son/daughter and live forever with him. We also need to make things right with others who we have hurt, if practical and possible. (I John 1:9; Ps. 51:1-19; II Corinthians 4:4; Matthew 5:23-24)

KEY 4. CHANGE IN LIFE STYLE
The last action required from us is a change in life style. We need to heed the instruction given by Jesus to the woman caught in adultery, “GO AND SIN NO MORE”! “Friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God. (1 john 2:15-17; John 8:11; Joel 2:12, 13; I Samuel 15:22; James 4:4) Turning from your sins, with the help of God, will change your whole life for the good.
